On February 16th & 17th Texas Ski Ranch will kick off the 2008 season with the fifth annual TSR FreezeRide event. The event will consist of Wakeboard & Wakeskate tournaments on both the TSR Cable lake and boat lake. For some, FreezeRide gives riders from all over the country a chance to get back on the water and try to regain the form they had at the end of 2007. For others it is a chance to showcase the new skills they have been working on during the frigid winter months. Either way FreezeRide is just a great excuse to get together to ride for the first time in 2008.

• Beg Cable $65 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Int Cable $65 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Adv Cable $65 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Pro Cable $85 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Cable WakeSkate $65 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Beg Boat $75 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Int Boat $75 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Adv Boat $75 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Pro Boat $95 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
• Boat WakeSkate $65 Includes 3day weekend cable pass
(*$25 late fee if registered after 12th)

For those of you who will not be competing TSR will offer the usual 3-day event cable & skate pass for only $49.95. This event is scheduled on Presidents day weekend so it should be a little easier for all of those traveling in from out of town! If riding is not your thing, TSR has added a Texas Hold’em poker tournament Saturday night. The tournament will be free for anyone to enter, and all competitors that make it to the final table will receive prizes! The spring fashion show will also be part of Saturday’s events.

Boat Format:
One turn per rider. Each rider will take off the starting dock to the right and turn around. Once the turn is complete the run will begin. The judges will score until the second fall or the rider returns to this end of the lake, whichever comes first. If the riders first fall is past the point of no return (Meaning there is not enough distance to get the rider up to speed and perform a trick) the run will end there. Riders will be scored on degree of difficulty, style, amplitude, variety and overall flow of their run. Riders will not be picked up after their second fall.

Beginner:
One pass up and back. No obstacles are allowed. The rider may throw 1 invert or 5 at the end of his or her run. If they make that trick they will then compete in intermediate the following week.

Intermediate:
One pass up and back. No obstacles are allowed. The rider may throw invert s, 3's or 5's. The rider may not exced five of these tricks in his or her run. No Mobes, blind 5's or 7's.

Advanced:
One pass up and back. Obstacles are allowed. The rider may throw inverts, 3's or 5's. One mobes, blind 5 or 7 is allowed at the end of their run.

Pro / Outlaw and Wakeskate:
No restrictions

Cable Format:
2 runs per rider. Each run will consist of 1 full lap. If the rider falls during that lap, the first of two runs is finished. If he or she does not fall they must let go before reaching the LF Aframe/box or slider box. Every rider will take their first run and then repeat the order for their second turn. The only difference in the second run is that a wildcard trick is added. If and only if the rider does not fall on his or her second lap they are to continue riding and get one lap to throw one trick of their choice, either on an obstacle or in the flats. The rider must wave their hand before to let the judges know that the wildcard trick is coming up. DO NOT throw any other tricks on this lap! They may be counted as your wildcard. Riders will be scored on degree of difficulty, style, amplitude, variety and overall flow of their run.

The same trick will not be scored twice. They will give you credit for the better of the two attempts. This means it would not be benificial to throw the same trick on your second run as you did on the first. Different grabs do not constitute a different trick (Railey, OHH, Hoochie Glide, Nuke Glide... are all the same trick), however if you do it switch it will be counted as different trick, or if you do a trick in the flats, you may also do it off the kicker.

Beginner:
No Air Tricks where the line is loaded. You may do Ollie 180's and Ollie 3's. All Obsticles are open. Spins are OK but no inverts except on your wildcard trick.

Intermediate:
Flips and spins are allowed on all obsticles (No blind landing or full spinning flips) You may do air tricks but again no blind landing or full twisting tricks. You may throw a blind lianding trick for your wildcard only.(S-Bend or vulcans are not considered a full twisting invert for this competition)

Advanced:
Air tricks and obsticles are open, except for full twisting inverted tricks. You may throw a full twisting trick as your wild card only.(S-Bend or vulcans are not considered a full twisting invert for this competition)

Pro / Outlaw and Wakeskate:
No restrictions

Seriously considering being there for this.

Couple of questions for anyone who might know,

Is this a good venue for WS beginners? I've never even been up on my WS as I am usually the family boat driver and thus, I don't get the opportunity to do as much (used to slalom ski but I got kind of bored with it).

Thinking of trying the cable lake to get the hang of some basics. Will it be crowded to the point where a newbie would complicate things?

Also, is there any plan for some of the outlaws to meet up?

If we get this solid we'll be hooking up with the San Antone, San Marcos and Austin crew for sure.

As far as beginner Wakeskate Tristanm, I wouldn't worry - it's behind the boat, I suspect a Mastercraft but I didn't read closely, being an MC dealer that's my bet. That being said, whatever you skate today behind your boat will be similar. You get two falls so what could go wrong?

It comes with a 3-day pass on the cable, over three days I am sure you'll get some pressure free passes - the only downside is that long, long walk back around. Try to fall after the last kicker and just take a handful of passes avoiding all the obstacles to get used to the tension and slack. There are markers for you to stay outside to maintain the your tension. You'll get it quick watching other people's passes.

Plus poker, prizes, fashion show - I see no reason not to attend.

Thanks to WakeDoc and Loc for the info. Looks like fun.

Its seemed like a really long winter and I'm ready to get wet again. Besides, my wife has agreed to watch/chase our kids for a day or so. I should call ahead and tell them to stock the bar extra heavy (IMG:http://forums.wakeoutlaws.com/style_emoticons/wake/).gif)

Considering most of my friends don't ski or wakeboard (can't even get any of the lazy b@st@rds to try it on my boat), I'll probably be there solo. I'll check back here to see if anyone can make it.

I'll be sporting my Black WakeOutlaws shirt, so if you guys see me come say Hi!! As it gets closer to the date, I'll let everyone know what day I'll be there. I won't be participating, just cheering people on and watching the crashes.

Hey, its a great place to learn ws. The first time I ever WS was on the tsr cable. The only thing is when there are events the line can be really long and that sucks when your learning.

Sounds great. Where do you guys typically go? We usually hit the lower San Jacinto for the smooth factor but water is water and I'll go pretty much anywhere. Let me know the next time you'll be in the water somewhere and I'll try to hit the same spot.

Good Point. I think I may try to get up there early on Friday to get the hang of it before the crowd hits.
